Seat Belt in trouble

A seat belt at the back wouldn't come out when I pulled it . I got out my set of spanners and removed the whole unit.

Theres this box that the belt rolls back into when its fully retracted, I am guessing under the force of some sort of spring or coil.

The problem is when it retracts , it wont come back out. So its now fully retracted but wont pull out even a mm

Is this just a sign that its reached the end of its life and needs to be replaced ?

Try holding it so that the seat belt exit is facing up and try pull it then.

I'm stronger than most people but theres no give in the mechanism at all. It's rolled tight and wont budge. Every time I let it in a millimetre it would stay there and not come out. Now its rolled up as far as it can go and its stuck there. I am wondering if this means the coil or spring inside is just finished ?

would you believe I fixed it . removing it is the worst thing you can do. It needs to be held at 19.5 degrees or so to . Theres a level or tilt switch inside. I just had to adjust the angle and tighten the nut at this angle with a wrench
