Opinion on 2011 Volvo S60

Ok so going to upgrade my car soon enough and went test driving today. Doing this reinforced my previous inclination that I want a Volvo S60 (as there seems to be a scarcity of Honda Accords which was probably my 2nd choice). There is one I have my eye on (link at bottom). Do the wise folks of the Motors forum have any opinions on anything specific to watch out for on these cars or any other comments on spec, price, etc.

It seems a nice clean car with the following:
    Full service history
    163bhp 5 cylinder engine
    Winter upgrade pack
    Cruise control
    Reverse parking sensors
Few other things; generally well spec'd I think.

Straight deal price is a €1k less than the listed price.

I bought one in March 2014 an 11d with 43k km on the clock. Had a 320d for 5 years before that. Have to say it's a nice drive, similar spec, slightly better economy and same hp 163.

It seems nice to drive and plenty of power in it. Used to only 100bhp at the minute so it's a fair step up!

Read a couple of reviews saying the ride was a bit uncomfortable and loud but to be honest I didn't find that during my drive.

ES is the base model of the range and pretty basic spec wise, better off aiming for the SE or SE Lux which will have more toys. Also leather heated seats are a must imo in a Volvo.

Price wise that is not that cheap for a 11 reg, here is a similar spec 2012 model for the same money:

Very few SE or SE Lux models around though. I'd prefer one with leather seats, etc. but very few around unfortunately.

Is the 2012 model in any way different to the 2011 model? Fair point the one you linked has 10k miles less alright but it's the other side of the country and apart from the mileage it seems identical?

The one in Galway has bi-xenon headlights, the one in Dublin doesn't. The one in Dublin is being sold by a Mazda/Opel dealer so the warranty with it might be valid with any Mazda/Opel dealer that are closer to you. Worth asking the dealer about it anyway.

Would I travel the other side of the country to get a car a year younger for the same money? Yes I would if the car was in perfect condition and the warranty was valid closer to home.

True. Might ask about it. Was looking at another in Dublin there (http://www.carzone.ie/used-cars/volvo/s60/used-2011-volvo-s60-d3-2-0-d-16-dublin-fpa-160714321088115900) so might potentially try go have a look at the two of them sometime... ;)

Yes, always good to have more than one car to view and no harm letting the dealers know it too.

The one I was talking to earlier was made aware I was on my way to Colm Quinn and Audi Galway to look at some equivalent 3 series and A4s to keep him sharp! ;)

    Thanks for the advice.
