3DSXl -> N3DSXL

    Having bought the MM XL some time ago, it's almost time for me to actually open it & use it (need to get college work done first, for obvious reasons). When I do actually get to use it, what's involved in transferring everything from my previous XL, to this one - is it just the usual system transfer tool? If so, how does this affect the pre-installed Majoras Mask...I really don't want that to be overwritten...

    I think it may be overridden, but will be available in your "Previously downloaded" list within the eshop after the transfer.

    For the transfer, if you've a micro SD in the 3DS XL, it'll tell you when to move it to the N3DS XL, otherwise, you can copy the information on it manually to a micro SD before/as part of the migration.

    So do you mean as part of the transfer process, MM on the new XL will become tied to the account that's on my old XL and being moved to the new XL?

    Yeah I think I done it before manually, when moving from the original 3DS to the XL, so will just do the same here. I've not had to worry about preinstalled content on the target console before though

    Yup, the pre-installed software will be registered to your account, so you can re-download it.

    Interesting, cheers. So does that mean if you buy a second hand 3DS with the previous users content on it, that it'll then become tied to your account should you do a system transfer to it??

    No, whatever witchcraft they have, it'd wipe any previous account and associated games, but if there's a pre-installed game on new hardware, it'll allow you to retain that game license.

    AFAIK, you can only tie one NNID to a console. So if the 2nd hand console has another NNID on it, then that will be lost when you do the system transfer. The games that are there will either be removed or disabled (I assume?) when you transfer your own data/NNID to it.

    Ah I see, so a console with content on it & no NNID (in other words on new systems) will allow the gubbins to tie the preinstalled software to the incoming NNID. Cool, cheers for that folks.

    Dying to get stuck into Majoras Mask, It'll be a total time sink though so I need to have all college work done beforehand, lest I procrastinate until the last minute. Bloody thesis :D
