Another Medical Card Query!

    Hi everyone,

I have a medical card that I've never used as I got very confused and didn't think that I was eligible to use it (long story) but now it turns out that I am! Anyway, I went to my doctor (who I've been seeing for the last few months since I moved house) and got a prescription for the pill (a new one) and paid for the visit as usual.

The prescription I have is from my new doctor, but my medical card has a different doctor in a different location. From what I've heard the change of doctor form can take three weeks to be processed, so that's no good to me. Would it be possible to
    A) Get my new doctor to transfer the prescription to a GMS(?) form to give to the pharmacist
    Or
    B) Could I ask the doctor whose name is on my card to transfer the prescription over, even though he didn't issue the prescription?

Apologies if this is a bit confusing, but any help at all would be great!

Your new GP can give you a medical card prescription, ask.At the same time fill in the form to change doctors.

Thank you! So can I just get him to transfer the prescription to the form for medical card? Or would I have to go back and get a new prescription (and pay €50)?

    Thanks so much!
