Does anyone know of any wedding venues in or around Kilkenny that are not the 4 main hotels. We're looking for a reasonably informal venue to hold a party. Maybe a Pub with a nice beer garden just outside the city???

What about the Set theatre? Or if you wanted to go further afield, ,the Lord Bangnel in Leighlinbridge?

Thanks byhookorbysrook, Lord Bangnel is a bit far away from KK and the set is still a bit too packaged for us.

    Knocktopher Abbey?

Honestly, anywhere that doesnt have a wedding 'package' might be a lot of hassle.

Hibernian or Pembroke Hotels? Butler House?

    Croan House in Dunamaggin? http://www.hitched.ie/wedding-venues/croan-house-croan-cottages_437.htm#pos=4&type=1&lhid=21

What do you count as the main 4 hotels? What are your numbers roughly?

The main hotels we were looking at were Newpark, Langtons, Ormonde, Rivercourt. We have about 120 people but we're not really looking for a formal sit down meal or anything just a BBQ or Buffet and a few beers.

Not aware of any pubs who can cater for that many. Carrols in Knocktopher or The Rising Sun in Mullinavat might. We had a lovely BBQ with work in the Set at Langtons last year. Any of the hotels will prob do an informal type do as well. Hotel Kk or Springhill as well.

Langtons have Bridies bar aswell which has a fab beer garden out back that's good for a BBQ. I love it. But I'm getting married there so I'm slightly biased.

    Hi

We had our wedding in hotel Kilkenny we had a BBQ and they couldn't do enough to accommodate us it was €18.50 a head at the time in 2009.
They even had waiters to serve the elderly people in the room
We then had a Dj come in for the evening

Ballyduff House in Thomastown might be a good option if it's not too far from the city.
