    Hi everyone,

What is good, and easy to use software, for designing your own wedding invites, order of service etc?

The two places we have been to get our stuff printed want us to create the stuff ourselves and send them via pdf documents to be printed off. The other half has a very good idea how she wants everything to look - but I reckon we will run into trouble trying to get the right look just using word.

Has anyone any recommendations on software we could use to design it all?

It depends on the type of invites you want. IF you want quite simple invitations then Microsoft word would do them but publisher would be better.

I used photoshop to do ours but they had a lot of images in them. Photoshop is expensive if you don't have it already so i'd do a bit of experimentation with Word and publisher before committing to photoshop

Alsolook online for free templates as you might find something quite similar to what you want that you can edit.

PowerPoint is good also. Easier to manipulate images and text then with word and most people are more familiar with it then publisher.

For stuff like Photoshop you can typically find a free trial that will give you enough time to design an invite. Look on etsy too. Lots of designs and designers there who will put together what you want cheaply. They then give you the PDF for your printer.

I designed ours using picmonkey. I just downloaded the fonts I wanted beforehand as the fonts are quite limited. Ours were just text though.

We got our invites designed by Wedding Scribblers, we went with them for all the printing too so the design wasn't too expensive. Just another option for you

did you try any of the online print services e.g. Vistaprint or instaprint? They have some options to customize the design as needed. They will also print and send it back to you.

We used Vistaprint for both save the date and invites... good quality and plenty of designs to choose from. reasonable on price too.

I used GIMP. and i downloaded the fonts I wanted from DaFont.
Then brought it to a printers. The only thing that sucks the time and life out of you is deciding the final layout / font etc.
