Hi my Brother is looking to replace an old CRT tv with a LED or similar, and also a sound system which he can connect his I-Tunes (apple phone 5, I-pad, I-pod) library either by docking or streaming.

TV has to be "Smart" for Netflix etc (he is on Eircom Broadband and is using  a "freeview system).

I would be looking at the Samsung 40inc LE or Ultra and a matching soundbar (wireless connectivity and streaming).

He already uses a Bose system, so he likes his sound quality (but the room this is going to be in is about 13 x 14 squared feet.

    Any recommendations? Thanks

    Hi Bravobabe,

If you're looking at the Samsung in and around 40", the new models are starting to come in slowly

There's the 43J5500 at £399/€599 - Smart TV, HD freeview, Smart app connectivity etc -
    http://www.richersounds.ie/p-201304-ue43j5500.aspx?swapstore=1

Also there are still some of the 40h6400 available tho stocks are low - £399/€599

If you could go to a 50" there is a cracking deal on Panasonic TX50as500 - £399/€599 for a 50"!!!!!

For soundbars, there are a few options which would be a good match

    Yamaha YAS93 - soundbar with integrated subwoofer - £129/€189
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-200599-yas93-black.aspx

    Samsung HWJ355xu - seperate subwoofer - connect wirelessly to a Samsung TV - £134/€189

    Panasonic SCHTB485 - wireless sub  - £179/€249
    http://www.richersounds.ie/p-201318-panasonic-schtb485-sos.aspx?swapstore=1

All of these soundbars have bluetooth connectivity for streaming from smartphones/tablets etc

have a look at those, and if you've any questions on them, or if theres something else on our site catches your eye, let me know

    Thanks
    Brian

    Hi Brian,

    Thanks for the reply.

TV is going into an Alcove - (using arm-wall bracket) so 40-42 inch is probably the Maximum, he will get away with.

If you go for the Samsung TV, are you better off sticking with a Samsung sound bar (or are they all 100% compatible)?

As, mentioned in previous he uses a Bose system in a different room - Is there any other good value sound systems which will work with his extensive I-Tunes library?
(I have the samsung soundbar and I think its great)

    Thanks again

to be honest any soundbar really would be compatible, but the nice thing with sticking with the samsung is the wireless connectivity to the TV

If he's wanting to something which is a step up particularly for music, you could go to a seperate Hifi amp and speakers and connect the sound of the tv into that also

For the amp, theres the Monitor audio A100 with Apple Airplay at £199/€279
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-200564-a100.aspx

paired with Monitor Audio BX2 - we have some in ROSEMAH finish at £149/€219

Also see our Monitor audio clearance for a few pairs of BX5 floorstanders - http://www.boards.ie/ttfthread/2057440075

    Cheers
