Hi, our Labrador is a bit stiff these days as he's getting on a bit now, well I dont know if its stiffness he just lies around a lot, he can still run if he sees a rabbit or another dog and he still comes for walks but nowhere near what he used to be like.

I was looking at yumove and all the 5 star reviews on Amazon but when you read them its all arthritis relief, arthritis, arthritis.

Just wondering if theres anything I could be giving him, he seems a bit stiff but otherwise healthy, the vet said he's fine maybe a bit sore in the hips.

shoud I try him on the Yumove anyway and see or is there a better supplement I could try?

Yumove is supposed to be really good. I'm currently finishing half a box of Flexicose for my dog and plan on moving him to Yumove after a friend recommended it. Like your dog he doesn't have arthritis but had operations on his legs and gets stiff sometimes - a joint supplement will take a few weeks to build up in their system and "lubricate" their joints and can protect them from damage.

Have you had him vet checked - lots of vets do a free "senior" checkup? Also have you seen this thread as there's a really good post by DBB - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057438063

I use horse joint supplements, same ingredients, bigger pot but much cheaper per serving comparably. Currently using Cortavet.

Thanks, I dont see any cheap Cortavet online though, do you have a link?

Cortavet 454g £39.78 at vetuk.co.uk. Doseage at high maintenance level for a dog is just 1g a day. Works out about 11cents a day. I've got five dogs on it so cost is a consideration!

Interesting thanks a million for that, did your dogs respond when you started?

Yes, I've got two 15yo spaniel x terriers who are noticeably less stiff on it. They still go for the 3km walk up a mountain forestry (steep path) every morning whereas before they'd stop halfway or be very slow following you along. I've got a Springer spaniel dog with elbow issues from OCD (poor breeding) who is lame without it. The other two are on it as they're working dogs and it seems sensible to give them a helping hand to protect/repair their joints when they do a lot of exercise compared to most.

I like using the Cortaflex/Cortavet as it was proven to work in full double blind scientific trial unlike most supplements out there!

A friend of mine swears by yumove, she's tried lots of different supplements, and says it is definitely the best. She has a 3 legged dog, so feels its important to keep her as fit as possible, and ease any strain on the other legs.
