Morning all, I own an 03 Laguna 1.6 with key card. Key card opens doors and when inserted into reader the Accessories all work I.e. lights, radio, Windows etc..... no dash lights at all, Immobiliser light changes from steady flash to a rapid flash, steering lock won't disengage and engine won't fire or even turn over.... not a sausage, nada, zilch. ..... nothing!!
Anybody out there have experience of this or maybe works for Renault and can advise please. My buddy came over with a diagnostic computer thing but can't get a reading as engine won't start.

its been a long time since I had this problem myself but if I remember correctly the part u slot the card into has a piece inside of it that comes loose or breaks. I remember herself googled it and there was a youtube on how to fix it, I left her at it and sure enough there was a bit worked loose inside the unit. glued/fixed it and its been grand for years now.

Sounds like a problem with the immobiliser. It might just need reprogramming to the car, but could be the card or the reader is broken. We had similar problems with a '02 megane keycard. Dropped it into a locksmith. Got that key repaired for use as a spare and a new one made up to use daily. Cost was 170 euro, 50 for the repair, 120 for a new key.

Hey thanks for the replies, contacted Renault this morning..... they said new key.....!!!
    €300!! I simply don't have it...
Then asked if not the key what we looking at.... Couldn't tell me, which is understandable as he needs to see the car, called a guy in Autokey.ie who recode/repair keys for 80€...... this is looking better.... I explained that both keys have ceased to work..... The phone went quiet....... Damn it!!
He explained that both keys could be at fault but unlikely. Real nice guy and very genuine.
Any hoo, something wasn't sitting right with me, so I went and checked the fuse........ Bingo!
    €2.99 for a 10amp fuse.
