Lose the bonnet bra and roof rack, put the number plate in the traditional position and its class!

    I like it too. Looks good. Just a pity it's a 1.4. :(

If you like the way it looks, why not make a Bolf yourself? You'll need to change the wings, bonnet, grille and headlights from a Bora onto a Golf and boom, you're done. They bolt straight on. You can pick whatever engine you want then as well (1.8T 20V perhaps ;)) Also it'll be much more rewarding having done the job yourself. I wouldn't touch a modified car myself (unless it's rare or the price is good) because then I can make it my way and know what's actually been done.

I prefer that Bolf look on estates though.

Different strokes for different folks but apart form the interior which is fantastic for a 1.4 golf it just doesn't do it for me...Think that he would have being better off sparing all that money he spent molesting it and put it towards a stock GTI...it should more than cover the additional motor tax and insurance. He would have ended up with a more classy looking car and not a weedy 1.4 Golf....thats if it had to be Golf of course.

Surely not that easy is it?

Literally bolt off and bolt on, All mounting points for wings/bumpers are the same? What about the headlight wiring loom?

I'd seriously consider it if it's that simple!

Yes it is that simple. Golfs and Jettas use the same chassis (MK3 Jetta=Vento, MK4 Jetta=Bora) so everything bolts on and off exactly the same.

Headlights have the same connectors as well. I did Vento front end swap on my MK3 Golf Variant.

If I can get panels the same colour (Indigo Blue) local to me.
    I'm going to try it!

You can open a thread asking if anyone with indigo blue Bora wants to do a front end swap. Win-win.

Cheers, Hoping to keep my original Golf front also. (Incase I decide to change back or sell the car and someone thinks it was a crashed)

Will post up pics when I get it done!

Just bear in mind that you might need to get the panels from the corresponding car with the same engine. For example there are slight differences between TDI bumpers and petrol bumpers, so if you have a TDI Golf you'll need a bumper from a TDI Bora.

Where did you hear that? The bumpers are the same across the board unless it's an anniversary or r32. For example the GTI bumper is the same as a 90bhp tdi just colour coded. As for intercoolers etc both turbo petrols and tdis have a side mount in the same position.

A 1.4 petrol golf won't have the intake for the intercooler that a TDI requires.

Seems the skanger thread has gone off topic with the Bolf topic. Some love it, Some hate it.

I though I'd start a thread on it, Post up pics of cars with front end conversions. :)

Here's a Bolf, MkIV Golf with a Bora front.
    Bolts straight on.

    I actually like the Bolf.

The EG Civic with a DC2 Integra front end was popular too, as was Caddy/Inca with a 6k Ibiza front end.

My old Bravo had a Marea front. Freshened it up to no end

Saw a Tempra with a 155 front, a very weird looking car then...

Doesn't even have to be a front end swap,

    Here's a proper Focus van,

Long and short nose front ends on a T4 are an easy swap.

Here is marlows once short nose panel van with a long nose front end. Long nose allows you to fit the factory FMIC.

My old van had the short nose. Had plans to do the conversion eventually.

Not for me, but certainly one of the most out there choices.

Here is an EG Civic with a Tef front end.

VAG stuff excepted but is the rest simply a bolt on job or does it require much fettling?

The intake hangs off the intercooler Quazzie, all the bumpers are the very same. The Bumpers on my V6 Bora were identical to any other mk4 i had bar cut outs for the washer jets.

First picture looks like a 5 door lupo to me, pretty cool!

I remember Wheeler Dealers doing a conversion on a rangie and it was pretty simple, but fairly fiddley on the small details by the look of it

The arch liners are different alright but that's about it!

Just for anyone reading this wanting to do a bora front end all the bumpers are the same, regardless of intercoolers or not. The arch liners are different that's about it.

Is there not a modified vent down beside the intercooler on the TDIs?

I was basing it on the fact that on Toledos the TDi bumpers are slightly different so I took it that VW would've done the same.

Focus estate, With B pillar moved and 3 door front doors used. There's a thread somewhere on Passionford.

There was also an E36 van, Done using a touring and welded rear doors with Astra van panels.

1 Series hatch with the 2 Series coupe front end. Not bad imo but I prefer the stock 2 Series. The 1 was always an ugly car although the latest facelift has made it passable.

Since this has moved on from VW's... I think this might be one of the best front end conversions of all time, which is a fairly easy to do as well.
