Hi,I am not sure if this is the right forum to ask about crèche not giving any receipts when paying fees?
My child is in crèche full time and when we pay the fees they never ever give receipt. I asked couple of other mothers from that crèche and they it's the same story. Is this normal practice?
    Thanks.

We paid by direct debit and never got a receipt but I am sure if you request one they will give it to you.

Yup, initially the creche never gave receipts. The amount of arguments about having paid/not paid/ not paid the correct amount was ridiculous... they would ring in May to inform us we didn't pay the right amount last April!!! I ended up paying by cheque so at least I had a record. I don't think it was anything underhanded but just really sloppy practise.
Management changed and receipts were issued as a matter of course.

Just ask for one OP (even a hand written note). Or else every time you pay send an email that day saying that you would like to acknowledge payment of X for that day, at least if there is a dispute then you can say that they never queried the email. Also a cheque if possible!

    Thanks for your replies.
The crèche owner insists on paying only by cash. She doesn't accept cards, checks or bank transfers. Weird.....
I guess I just have to put up. Only 4 weeks left till the crèche breaks up for summer anyway.
    Thanks.

That sounds a bit suspicious .
Do they do the ECCE scheme ?

Yes. It is ECCE scheme. But after the 3 hours provided by the scheme are over,we pay them because my son stays there on till 5 o'clock.
The crèche owner also took deposit of 100 euro for the ECCE scheme hours. But if it's free for parents, why does she need the deposit?
It is a bit suspicious alright. I just hope she will give the deposit back at the end of ECCE term.

Mention in passing that you are going for a coffee with a close family member who works in the tax office. That should get your deposit back. :D

Services are allowed to ask for a deposit to hold an ECCE place, check the rules of the scheme. The cash only policy is strange though. Suppose you paid by cheque and said you had no.cash, what would happen?
