    Hi Folks

Looking for some advice..Ive to purchase an item from the UK...the seller can only take payment via bank transfer or PayPal.. Its just over £800 which I need to pay..

Would one of these methods of payment be more beneficial than the other? Ive read PayPal conversion rates are on the higher side when compared to banks...

    Any advice appreciatedsmile.png

Is it a private sale or shop?

I would use Paypal, if there's any problems with the transaction you will have some cover and could get your money back, with the bank I don't think there's anything you can do.

No its a shop..they have a rep worldwide though and there wont be any funny business..very reputable company.. I asked them could I not just provide my credit card details on the phone..but they dont have the equipment to take payments that way..

Ive no worries about having problems with the company and the purchase..Im just trying to see which would be cheaper..Sending them a transfer through Bank of Ireland or using PayPal.. both have hidden fees I'm sure and exchange rates can differ I guess..

With AIB ding bank transfer even international is free (not if been so high is the same), I used it a few times and gets there the next working day. if it's urgent for same day there's a fee, I say BOI is similar.

Thanks Nava..yea I left a line in the BOI forum there too to see what my options are anyway.. Just thought someone may have had experience of using both methods and could advise...

Just a follow up on this one..after further digging on boards I discovered Transferwise and Currencyfair.. So will defo be using one of these..seem a much better option than the bank or Paypal and both have good reps too it seems..
