Was in a house the other day that had a rough (internal) plaster finish on the walls. It reminded me of an old farmhouse or cottage. Anyway, is there a name for this and is it a common task that any plasterer could do?

I have done a few rooms/areas this way Barney.
The mix used for the textures was simply various combinations
of skimcoat and bonding mixed, few test panels to decide on correct texture and a
certain style of finishing by the plasterer, that you like visually.
I used a sponge float to finish, worked out really well when painted.

Thanks g.leather. Could you post a pic of close up and/or a few meters back so I can see how it came out?
Not to worry if you can't for whatever reason.
