Grundfos MQ-35 pump problems

We have a Grundfos MQ-35 boosting the water pressure around our house, it has been working fine for just over 6 years. Yesterday the pump stopped working, and the alarm light came on. I reset the pump and turned it on again. It made a high pitched sound for a few minutes (as though the motor was trying to turn but couldn't), before the pump stopped and the alarm light came on again. The body of the pump was also quite hot.
This morning I opened the pump to see if I could spot anything wrong, but there was nothing obviously out of place. Put everything back together but still the same story.
Has anyone got any idea what the problem with the pump is likely to be? At six years old am I as well off just replacing the pump rather than trying to repair it? From looking at other threads here I understand the Walrus pump is a bit cheaper and a bit quieter (which would be great).
    Any feedback would be appreciated.

You more than likely need a new capacitor
