Nope they not travellers ! I know that! they just very unpleasant passengers shall we say!!

Unpleasant in which way? They're only concerned about the noise I think, can't blame them either if they've never heard it before.
Lingus are putting a rep on it very soon, just to reassure. Good price for Omni!

That's actually just the way they go on, I wouldn't call it rude.

The hostess could have dealt with it better too, not everybody is used to aircraft, wouldn't have taken much to explain the noises to them.

Really should a hostess have to explain to human beings in 2015 that there is noise on an airplane.

She did give them an explanation did she not ? I don't mind pax asking me about noise not at all and I work on Airbus so lots of not well travelled pax do ask about the barking noise, but their attitude is rude in my opinion

Yes if they've got concerns, few words of reassurance doesn't cost anything and the cabin crew can make it up if they need.
Some of these complaints that are sent in are mainly regarding lease ins. When passengers book an aer lingus flight and travel on an aircraft and or company they don't recognise they tend to be more "on edge" tbh.
That's all that comes to mind.

Yes if it's making them uncomfortable or scared. People should be encouraged to say something if they feel uncomfortable about something on a flight.

Some pax on the aloha 737 noticed the cracks in the fuselage but said nothing.

Sounds like an Air Start Unit to me....
They make a fairly distinctive noise when plugged in and wound up, I've often been on flights where they've been used where the FD crew made an announcement to explain the unusual noise and extra activity by the ground crew scrambling about with their hoses.

Yes Billy ure spot on! ASU

Wasted 8 minutes of my life.

Woman is worried about the aircraft, woman is wearing socks and no shoes. Hasn't thought as far ahead as making an emergency exit in her socks.

Easiest thing to so to stop this would have been to make an announcement if it was an air start. People don't like to hear strange noises on aircraft or noises that they wouldn't have heard before! Would put a lot of people at ease. But the pax was quite rude to the CC.

That video is comedy gold... those pax nothing else but scumbag mongs.. " ahhh heoree, im ringing the Chris Barry Show where we get back". "Im not comfortable here" i doubt anyone is with you with your shoes off. " a bucket with wheels is what it is" ...

Having said all that :p it would have been good to an announcment to have been made by the captain and for the cabin crew member not to go making up BS about the flaps.. then again if you level with people of that 'level' who are quite hard of thinking on a good day anyway all of a sudden "hereor the plane is bleedin broke.. if the engine cuts out we is bolloxed".... very funny video

Well there still Aer Lingus passengers tbh and the aircraft is operating an Aer Lingus service. And we value their business.
On a separate note the variety of Irish accents does amuse me! Quite difficult to understand some of them!

She takes 1 flight a week, apparently. Give her a spin on an ATR or a 737 classic and you'll get the full array of noises! :)

I'd have just told them it's how the engines on this aircraft are started, no need to tell them any more than that.

Otherwise as you say you'd be opening a can of worms with these types.

Anymore language like this and the thread is getting closed. We do have some standards here and expect people to be civil when posting.

Normally the clue you're going to be needing an ASU is that there's no air conditioning when you get on (unless they have a ground conditioning unit plugged in). I've been on a B747 in the Caribbean when the APU was not working so no Air Con and no ground cart. It was fine at first but once everybody got on board the temperature started climbing through the roof, we then sat there for what seemed like an eternity until the got the ASU fired up and started one of the engines. I was never so pleased to hear that sound.....
