disability allowance question

I have recently had to stop working due to arthritis. I have suffered with osteoarthritis for 2 years and rheumatoid arthritis for a year. A recent flare left me in hospital and I am no longer able to do my job due to pain and fatigue

I am on illness benefit at the minute and I am going to apply for DA as my condition will last a whole lot longer than 12 months. The waiting list for sugery on my hip will be at least 2 years

I have a few questions if anyone could answer them that would be great.

Whats the waiting time at the min for DA decisions?
Can I stay on Illness benefit while awaiting a decision for DA?
If not can I be on JSA even though I am not fit for work while the decision is being made?

It can literally take anything up to 12 months to get disability allowence it's one of the more difficult payments to get(very similar diagnosis actually ) .
In a lot of cases you'll likely get refused on your first application.
But payment wise you can apply for supplementary welfare payments from your local cwo officer who can pay you weekly until you have your DA
You cant go on to Jobseekers if your not fit and capable of work.
