Saorview Sound Issues: no sound on non-HD TV channels

I've been using Saorview for the last month or so without any issues.
However, last week I lost the sound on most of the TV channels. Now we've only sound on RTE1HD and RTE2HD, and all the radio channels. The sound is gone on all the other TV channels. The picture quality is unaffected.

I tried re-scanning and disconnecting a lot of superfluous co-ax cabling, boxes, etc in the attic (we bought this house recently) but the sound has not returned.

Any ideas of what may be amiss here? Is it pure coincidence that the sound is gone from non-HD channels only?

    Thanks.

Just found it. The AD was on. Must have sat on the remote, activating it.

2rn should remove the blank unused nar/AD channel on TV3, TG3, 3e & UTVi same as they do for RTE News Now or else duplicate the main audio on the nar/AD channel as they have implemented on RTE one, RTE2. This would reduce they number of posts here (which is only a small percentage of actual times it happens) caused when AD/nar settings are switched on by accident by saorview viewers.

Isn't it odd they can afford to waste money broadcasting numerous test-cards with radio channels for audio but not broadcast the audio they should have on actual channels.

I'll be honest with you "I don't know what to make of saorview" I don't know what there game plan is or who makes decisions on how its run, the two multiplexes are just all over the place. With so much room for 3 more HD channels and of course Radio channels. Let's hope they will sort it out in the near future.

It's only 'wasted money' if one assumes they're actually in a position to make money with some other use of the capacity, the test cards might as well be there as any other 'stuffing', unless they're paying royalties on them or something.

Would you not prefer proper 1080 HD and some audio on the actual broadcast channels rather than confusing users who inadvertently hit AD?

That goes without saying but the point I took issue with was that money was being wasted elsewhere. Replacing the test cards with null packets or whatever they're called is hardly going to save anything.

If they can't get customers to cough up a bigger share of broadcasting on 2 muxes, then I dunno, maybe they could switch to DVB-T2, & put everything back on 1 mux? Or would the channel operators still be determined to go the bare minimum cheapo route?
