    Hi all,

My brother has been offered the above position. I'm just wondering if anyone has worked in this role before, how they found it, if the DAA are good employers, and if it has any further career potential? Thanks.

Worked with the DAA before - ASU is a nice position to be in, would have snapped at it if offered. Essentially first in line for Airport Police when they hire and at the time I was there (if not still) the benefits were pretty good.

    I'd be taking it.

He's definitely going to take it I think, thanks for the reply sounds quite positive.

I worked in that position previously, its tough hours and a tough environment sometimes, but there are opportunities to move on to different positions after a few years. The benefits and pay are not great though, the old times are well gone. However it is a good company to move around in, if you have the skills and can show initiative.

Great thanks, it's good to hear that it can lead to other opportunities.

I'm not sure but just be aware that these positions for Terminal 2 may be zero hour contracts so are not like the ASU contracts of old. The advert states the positions are permanent but they are only offering 20 to 30 hours a week. I would say like some zero hour positions in practice they will offer your brother plenty of shifts. But it can also be difficult to refuse work on zero hour contracts for fear of being penalised in the future.

Not trying to put your brother off but something to perhaps look into/be aware of. Perhaps a current ASU member could confirm or deny this.

Actually they have changed the advert from a couple of months ago and the hours are no longer specified it just states that a 24/7 shift pattern will apply. Anyone have any info on this?
