I'd encourage you to read up on the basics here:

If you're using anpost for postage, you can calculate the exact costs here:

    http://postage.anpost.ie/

For large or heavy items, an post is probably not the best option.

The most important thing to remember with postage is if it's not signed for, you will never have proof it was received and any paypal claim will side with the buyer. At the same time, high postage costs will deter buyers, so you need to balance things out depending on the cost of the item.
You'll have to get to know the fees, but as a rough estimate for a small seller it's around 15% of a sale when you consider listing, the final value fee and paypal charges. Fees are also paid on the postage cost.
Ebay has a limited market in Ireland, and you may find it tough if you're unwilling to send to at least within Europe, unless you have a niche. If you want to confine it to within Ireland, it might be good to start off with some ad sites (adverts, donedeal etc.).

also familiarise yourself with the list of prohibited items on AnPost's site, the most important onces being liquids & batteries.
nothing worse than selling an item and finding out you have no way of sending it to them safely.

Any item over 2kg use couriers, an post gets way too expensive.

Use the completed listings option to get an idea how much your item usually sells for. No point it pricing it too high where it will never sell, or too low that you miss out on a bit extra. Good luck.

    Hi
I am selling on ebay. It not that easy.
1 Make a plan on what you want to do.
    2 Will it sell
3 What is it going to sell for (Don't think you get top €€€€ for it)
4 ebay fees between 7% to 12% + listing fees
5 Pay pal fees 3% of what the item sell for.
E.G fees could be around 15% all togetter
    6 Posting + Returns.
There is not point saying you do take return because paypal will buyer side.

You asked what to sell. I ask you what you into. What do you know about.
If you want to know more msg me.

    Best of luck

Also check Parcel Motel for postage, could be cheaper than anpost, but beware of locker sizes and max 10kg, with them you can only post to the UK and Ireland and also to other PM users.

Hi, I'm new to eBay and I was thinking of selling some baby items on eBay Ireland to try and make some money for Christmas. However there seems to be very little traffic and I can't believe the amount of good quality stuff including clothes that's only selling for 1.49. I don't want to start a higher bid because of the eBay fees. I'm just wondering is it really worth my while selling anything on the Irish website :-(

    Hi Suishin

Yes the traffic is poor on eBay.ie. I find most of my sale are coming from uk and spain. What sort of items are you talk about. eBay has listing fees and selling fees + paypal fees. clothing 10.4 present. There are a lot of people selling baby stuff. At the mo there are 1,886,928 listings. So i think it be hard to get into. If you got the stuff ya sell it away but i would not be going out buying just Christmas. Have you got account with good feedback.
For pricing ask what you think is fair. Put on best offer on it.
I sell clothing on ebay. I've got best offer on most item.

    Best of luck.
