10k ish - What are my options

I inherited an apartment just over a year ago. I have 10k or so from the rent sitting in a current account doing nothing right now. What are my options with this lump sum? I can also put aside a few hundred euro (500 to 800)of rent per month.

I'm pretty clueless about this sort of stuff so any help would be appreciated. I'm 27, debt free and will hopefully looking for a mortgage in the next few years so access to the money could be important? I don't know who a bank would view me with a property worth 170k - 180k right now and a regular rental income. Like I said I'm clueless but there has got to be something better to do with the money than let it sit in my current account. Separately I'm putting aside some of my wage in a savings account.

    Thanks

Buy shares in 5 good companies (blue chips ISEQ/LSE) which will hopefully enjoy good capital appreciation and also most likely pay dividends > Bank Deposit Rates. And when you need to sell, you'll have plenty of scope etc.

    IMO a no brainer.
