Almost hit a Red Squirrel with the car a little while ago just outside Tullamore town! He was lucky to say the least, ran between the wheels of the car!

I've seen Grey's crossing the same streach of road before, but never a Red! Didn't even know there were Reds in this area!

It might be worth recording your sighting on the National Biodiversity Database: http://www.biodiversityireland.ie/

Like you, I was unaware there were red squirrels in my area too until I spotted one dead on a local road. There's obviously more of them about than we realise, which is great.

There is a good population of Red Squirrells and Pine Marten around Charleville Estate.

Read an interesting article in how pine martens are responsible for a decline in the grey squirrel population and are good for red squirrels so interesting you've seen both together

A thanks for that! That's where it crossed, down near where the Clodiagh river crosses the road!;)
