I'm trying to sell a car for someone but we want to do so privately and online. Can anyone recommend good sites to use to try sell it? Preferably sites specific for selling and buying cars privately.

    Carzone.ie
wash and vacuum the car before taking loads of pics.
Give plenty of details in the advert.
If and when someone comes to look at the car, check they are licenced and insured before they drive off in the car (with you or your friend beside them). Otherwise you or your friend drive.
Also remember that any points incurred during a test drive will initially be sent to your friend so maybe take a photo of their licence!

In terms of payment your best bet is for an in bank transfer. Cheques need to clear before they get the car. Bank drafts can be dodgy. Cash can lead to burglary risks.
Lastly you or your friend send off the docs to Shannon, not the buyer.

What price you selling it for? If it's less than €10k Donedeal is good.

I would put it up, think its €5 for an ad, no harm doubling up. You will get much more hits on Donedeal than Carzone but your typical buyer on Donedeal will normally be spending less.

If you want to let us know some of the car details ie
    Year
    Make model
    Mileage
    Spec
    Etc
We can try and suggest an asking price that should help you achieve a prompt sale.

It's a Citreon c4 Picasso 2010 with 32,000 miles, automatic in good condition

A €15k car is going to take time selling privately irrespective of which site you advertise it on. Most people in this price range are either borrowing or financing and their lenders will insist on them buying from a registered dealer. Alot of people will also prefer the peace of mind of buying from a dealer and getting a warranty.

Donedeal.ie tends to be the most popular with private sellers but on a car of that value I'd stick it on carzone.ie too. But expect to be inundated with time wasters and attempted scams involving overseas buyers telling you they will pay the asking price and arrange shipping.

Another option might be to approach a few dealers of the same brand and see if they will sell it for you, obviously working out a fee with them.

I think €15k for that is way too high, here is one with similar mileage asking €13k:

This is what you have to compete against.

from a quick look on all the sites, That seems a bit high for one of those. Most are being sold by garages too so have some sort of comeback.

Adjust the price if you want it to sell.

Yeah I think we'll try to sell it privately online and hopefully sell it, but we're considering talking with dealers to try sell it as well. Thank you!

I would think 12000 would be the maximum that car will make .
Its a 5 year old French car which will be getting sold with no warranty and most people spending that money will prefer to buy in a Citroen main dealer which will provide 12 month warranty and probably accept a trade in.
    Just my opinion though.
Best of luck with the sale.
