Everyone will get various quotes from different companies, due to many factors (car, engine size, your address, type of insurance etc.)

I know for myself I got cheap quotes from Liberty, and if I called up another company then they'd match it or do better.

Cheapest quote I've ever heard of for a learner driver was €2300 and that was for a Peugeot 206 - and that was veerryyy cheap IMO.

Sorry, presumed you were a Learner driver.

Again, Liberty give reasonable quotes online. Also recommended that you call whoever your parents/family members are insured with. Request a quote and let them know that ye already have a policy with them. I found this worked for me with FBD!

Its a case of spending a few hours calling brokers and insurance companies directly. There's no straight answer to it, every quote depends on so many variables that age, although the main cost driver, its not the only one so you need to put in the leg work.

i noticed when i wanted to check for importing my mx5 in ireland, its from 1992 and they ask way too much compare to what i pay now

What what does that matter? I don't even want ABS or all that crap technology, I want a 'drive'-car not a crappy car that does not feel like I drive it but someone else does. (a 1999 mx5 costs 3300 euros / year)

To insure? Are you 17 with a provisional license? Surely that can't be right.

It matters to insurance companies. Risk of injuries or fatalities in older cars can be higher because safety features on a 15 year old car would not be as good as a more modern car. This can result in higher payouts for them.

I think it's a muffin recipe. That's my best guess.
