    Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone had been to any of the below wedding venues? Or had a wedding at one of these places? I would appreciate any advice on hidden costs, things to watch out for, etc.

I'm interested in these venues (and trying to narrow down... which is proving hard as they all look lovely!):

    -Horetown House (Wexford)

    -Tinakilly Country House (Wicklow)

    -Kilshane House (Tipperary)

    -Castle Blackwater (Cork)

    -Kinnitty Castle (Offaly)

    -Borris House (Carlow)

    -Castle Durrow (Laois)

    -Loughcrew House (Meath)

    -Clonabreany House (Meath)

    -Marlfield House (Wexford)

We're hoping to have a wedding for 80 to 100 guests.

Thanks in advance for any help!! :D

Highly recommend horetown house, they are amazing.

I've been in most of these there's none I have bad things to say about. Borris and lough crew are organise it all yourself.

We viewed Tinakilly. While its a gorgeous place, they are quite restrictive.

If order to get exclusivity you have to guarantee 35 rooms on the night.

The music in the marquee has to finish around 1/1:30 due to noise with the neighbours etc.

They told us the party could then be moved into one of the rooms in the main house but we felt that was a total deal breaker.

Dunno anything about the rest of the venues you mentioned though.

Got married in Borris and thought it was lovely. Very nice people. Lovely laid back place. Very special but not over the top. Not at all like the wedding factory that some places are.

We also visited Kilshane House. Nice place but wrong vibe. Definitely felt like a wedding factory altogether.

We are getting married in Blackwater this year and we feel in love with it the minute we saw it...Have been onto a few people already who have got married there and they loved it.

I would say it is not the place if you want lets say the typical hotel service, you have it and it is yours you take care of it while you have it..

There aren't any hidden cost they are very honest and truthfull about this, it is like having a house party at your own house except you get the venue away from home and you must sort things like catering, the bar and music... We looked at a few places like this and they all kinda had extras like electricity, gas usage things like that... The owners say the castle chooses you when you go to see it.. It isn't to everybody taste but we love it..
