Not sure how you guys will like this or dislike it in here but I thought it was worth posting here as well as the angling forum.

I was out fishing the other night - after dark, about 11:30, fly casting. I though I had snagged behind me but on inspection, this had take my fly out of the air!!!

I took it straight to my friends house 30yards from where I was and removed the hook. It came out very easily and although there was a small amount of blood, physically the bat was fine. It was close to a bridge so we brought it back down and placed it on the wall and he climbed down the wall and under the bridge to where I presume he resides!

As I said physically, the bat was fine, but it was shaking like a leaf and I felt awful for it.

I'm wondering would he survive - as I said he was fine but would the stress and shock be detrimental - I would hate to think he didnt survive.

    Anyone any bat experience??

Same thing happened my OH some years ago.

I'm going to move this over to Nature and Birdwatching OP, I think it's probably a more apt forum for your enquiry.
Please be aware that a different charter applies.
    Thanks!

I'd assume it's a daubentons as you caught it near water. I have a friend who hooked a mink with a gol dhead nymph though I suspect it may have been deliberate! I once pulled the maxillary bone clean off a trout who took my cdc EMerger
