    Alternatives.

    www.smarkets.com have a 2% commission rate.
Obviously they don't have the same number of different markets in each sport but if you stick to the main markets, you'll be fine.
Football W/D/W, HT/FT & correct scores are the main ones.
Racing, the main horses in each race will have the same prices as Betfair may just a little longer to get matched.

www.matchbook.com charge 1% but on both profits and losses.
They do a lot of American Sports like baseball, hickey, basketball etc.
They go to 3 decimal places but no racing markets.

On the FA Cup this weekend, smarkets are doing 0% commission on ALL bets.

    Current FA Cup W/D/W PRICES
    Betfair Arsenal 1.58/159 - Draw 4.4/4.5 - A Villa 6.8/7.0
    smarkets Arsenal 1.58/1.59 - Draw 4.4/4.5 - A Villa 6.8/7.0
    matchbook Arsenal 1.574/1.589 - Draw 4.4/4.55 - A Villa 7.0/7.10

Haven't included Betdaq as the liquidity there is just a joke.

Smarkets and Betdaq don't have enough volume but Matchbook is becoming a genuine competitor.

Glad to see there's some competition.
I've noticed over the years betfair becoming more like a bookies. Pausing markets, more than they used to. Displaying cash out when they feel like it.
Site goes down a lot more now.

Would agree with Betdaq but not Smarkets.
I've noticed on Smarkets, the liquidity is very close to Betfair on the W/D/W football market.
Also have to take into account that it's not as established as some of the others.
I've found the Racing is okay, just may take a while to get matched if it's not one of "main" horses.
Matchbook has lots of liquidity but no racing unfortunately.
Strange that they go the extra decimal place and that they charge
1% on both losses and profits (so they get 2% on all bets) but at least it's cheaper commission.
The more people that move, the greater the chances of BF cutting their own rates.
