M20 motorway, effects on Shannon and Cork airports

I again today have read another article about the proposed M20 motorway and another way it could be funded (Aer Lingus sale this time). Of course the building of this road would have a lot of obvious benefits, but the Cork/Shannon Airport one is often thrown around which I am not so sure of.

So can anyone here give their opinion on the effects? I will list a few possible ones imo below.

*The better motorway between the 2 cities will offer a good alternative than travelling to Dublin, so people from the Mid-West may use Cork instead of Dublin for routes like Amsterdam, Barcelona, some sun routes, Prague, UK routes etc and people from the South could use Shannon for U.S.A traffic, some European routes, some sun routes etc.

*Ryanair will find it easier to play Shannon and Cork against each other as people are more willing to travel between the two.

    Opinions appreciated.

Who knows if Ryanair will still exist by the time the M20 is built.

Won't really make a difference because north Cork would usually use SNN and South Cork use Cork, both will get their quicker.

It will have zero impact on Dublin but both airports will be fighting for passengers (ie Cork/Shannon)

It won't be build for another/open 8 years or so, the Aer Lingus sale will not be used.

A little like the M17/18 project won't really impact. Motorways to Dublin are a different story.

I'm about as much North Cork as you can get and we never use SNN...always ORK. ORK is an hour away currently, SNN about 90 minutes
