    Hi Lads,

Thanks for reading, have a question regarding Insurance claims etc, that maybe someone would know the answer directly.

My car yesterday was parked in work car park, which is private and coded entry.
Only three of us are working here at moment, however builders and sparks etc also park their vans/cars with permission from the boss , he has them on subcontract in other part of county/country, so they leave random car or van and pick up in the evening, car pool etc.

I was there just after 6pm, and was down the back locking up.

This fella came in and said he had hit my car . Car is Lexus is200 2002.
I thought he was messing, as I was last to leave, there was only my car , plus his van in carpark, spaces = 15 in line.

His van parked two spaces down from mine.

I looked out window at car, and passenger side, got hit VERY hard, headlight, grill, bumper, undertray, wing, inner wing plastic, all damaged, bumper cracked very badly.

However his van hadnt moved ( in was there from approx 7.30am ).

I realized then that actually he was driving someone elses van, when the damage happened, he literally , reversed ontop of the corner of my car with towbar, van that did damage is transit.

He told me , he was gonna "square" me up and pay etc.

Now he gave me his name and phone number, to be honest, he parks here most days,
Im not from this location, but he is, and most seem to know him.

But my question is this :

I think he wants to pay me off, because he wasnt insured to drive the other van, that he was driving ( i think its his bosses ).

Now, if i get a price for all the stuff and labour and he doesnt entertain me, which I think will happen, as he wasnt actually apologetic about it.

Is their much point in ringing his insurance, and declaring it against him, that he hit my car,
what I mean is, if he wasnt covered to drive the other van, and I ring and declare, he hit me, driving this other van ( dont have details of other van, only its a transit ) will his insurance take me on, or because he wasnt insurned to drive that van, will it just be a fob me off job ?

to be honest, from all the pictures I took before driving the car, just after he hit me, and from having a quick but indepth look, I would say the insurance will write it off .

Any all advice, comments etc greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for reading

I'm sure someone is going to say you should have called the gaurds but I'm not sure if there is much point now, after the fact!

Did you get the insurance details from both vans?

I don't see the issue. He's admitted liability. Get an estimate to get your car fixed properly. Give that to him. Don't entertain "I'll get that fixed cheaper" or similar.

Take the insurance details of the vehicle he was driving and forward them to your insurer just in case.

If it needs a new headlight, bumper and grill you could be in and beyond €2 grand plus if new parts are used with labour. Does the guy sound like he knows about the cost of car repairs or is he one of these people that would think a quick splash of Hammerite would be acceptable to repair a 7 foot scrape on the side of your car?
