3 month dealership warranty....

Just wondering can anyone give me some advice -

2 months into my 3 month warranty and the car needs a new clutch and turbo (per my mechanic). Dealership said to drop the car into him and his mechanic will take a look. Do I let the dealership's mechanic take a look and do the work or can I insist my mechanic carry out the work. This is all providing the dealership is on board with having the work done.......If his mechanic says it does not need a new clutch and turbo then what? Thanks.

The dealer would fix it themselves. They wouldn't be paying your guy to do it.

Whether they'll actually cover any of this stuff is another matter...

Clutches are usually excluded from warranties.

A clutch is classed as a wear and tear component, I'd be very surprised if it's covered under any used car warranty.

Thanks, not sure if they will as I got it from place mentioned on other post Colm and wanted to see if people had same dealings with this place.....

3 months warranty normally just cover engine and gearbox so you could be in trouble.....

Thanks. My heart is broken with this car. Thought buying through a dealership was safe.......guess not.

Unless you are buying an expensive car with a potential large bill for repairs to the engine, I would not bother. Never bought a car from a dealer, as I prefer to take my time and find a good, genuine example and have some history from the previous owner. A good check over through should always be carried out anyway. If you are not familiar with cars, bring a mechanic with you for inspection.

It's like any area of business, you get the good and the bad apples.
