Trying to figure out source of above problem!
All other saor view channels are fine. Perfect Rte 2 hd signal, but rte1 (72000) is barely appearing on screen then disappears.same happens. to itv.
I'm using a Ferguson on combibox , all was working fine till a couple of months ago.
rescanned a few times , no change, S view site tells me to go to channel 52. But can't see it there. I'm not far, within view of my source in Glanmire Cork
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Are you using an indoor 'set-top' aerial?

Have you checked anything aerial-related: made sure it's plugged in right, connections & cable undamaged, no water in cable, things like that? Maybe a look at the aerial itself to make sure it hasn't blown down or something?

RTÉ1, RTÉ1+1, RTÉJr and UTVI are carried on the same frequency/multiplex (Mux2), the others are carried on a different frequency/multiplex (Mux1).

If the aerial isn't properly setup for both frequencies or there is some other problem with the installation as Thurston posts above this can result in a weaker signal for one of the frequencies and so you get a pixelated/blocky or no picture.

    Thanks I'll reexamine the aerial

Same for me, Mux2 signal suddenly disappeared on the 23 of May 2015, I remember clearly, as I dug out my DVB-T box with indoor aerial from the drawer and set them up on Friday 22nd of May to get RTE1 for Eurovision, both Mux1 and Mux2 scanned perfectly then, next day - no Mux2 signal, no matter what I did, Mux1 has 100% signal quality.
East Galway area, Mux1 is on channel 48, so I assume Mux2 should be on channel 55 - Maghera transmitter.
Do not see a signals on channels 26,23 or 45,41 - Tonabroky or Casla.
Receiver is Sigmatek DBVR-500HD as per threads named "SIGMATEK DVBR-520 HD Digital TV Receiver" here on boards, sorry, can not post links.

Same here Nth Kildare on and off but mostly at night, Roof aerial , Breakup of picture on RTe1HD, makes it unwatchable.

I'd doubt there's any significance in the dates, the issue will almost certainly be down to using an indoor aerial.

Did you try moving the aerial around? If you want reliable long term reception, get an outdoor aerial fitted. (Or if you want to DIY, something in the attic might work well enough, as a less risky alternative.)

    Thanks to all responders.

I managed to find out the source of the problem - hint given is some thread here on boards I can not find - read too many of them.

In short - it is interference from DVB-S2 - satellite receiver connected to the same TV. If DVB-S box is on - no signal on channel 55, at best, if indoor aerial placed very carefully - freezing picture. If DVB-S2 box is powered down completely - via switch on the back of it or plugged out of mains - 100% signal, perfect scan and reception.
Note - powering down DVB-S2 box from remote does not help. Also channel 48 is not affected by any significant means.

The power supply of the satellite receiver causing the interference? I have a DVB-T receiver that does the same, although I'd never have known if I hadn't got it before analogue transmissions were switched off, as that is the only place the interference was apparent, band III especially.

With a decent signal from an aerial well away from the source of interference, you probably would never have noticed it either, not that we should be making excuses for interference-causing equipment.

No, it is not likely the power supply, it has something to do with HDMI, so far changing cables etc. did not shed a light.
b.t.w. the thread which gave me a hint titled "Saorview - Can Only Get 3 Channels" - last post in it has a solution/clue.

If it's HDMI interference, I would expect it to stop when you put the satellite receiver in standby, remove the HDMI cable, or make sure the aerial & its cable are well separated from the HDMI lead.

Same here in West Dublin, all bar RTE One and UTV Ireland have perfect pictures! I'm using an Edison Argus Mini Combi box.
Only a few months ago, everything was fine, whatever RTENL, they have messed it up.

No, RTENL/2rn didn't mess anything up, it will be your own setup. Are you just using a set-top aerial?

Yes, it is an indoor aerial like this http://www.satellite.ie/acatalog/Attic-and-Outdoor-digital-tv-aerial.html#SID=10

It's too much of a coincidence that everything (RTE 2, TV3, TnaG etc) but RTE 1 works perfectly.

That's an outdoor aerial that can be attic mounted also, where have you located the aerial?

RTÉ1 and RTÉ1+1/UTV Ireland/RTÉ Jr are carried on a different frequency/multiplex to the other channels RTÉ2/TV3 etc.

The aerial has to be mounted where it can get the best signal for both frequencies, outdoor is recommended but in strong signal areas an attic mounted aerial can work.

Aerial issue most likely, it may require adjustment to receive best signal for both frequencies

we live near Dublin airport with the flight path between us and the transmitter - our Saorview picture is flawless but gets choppy/jittery every time there's an airplane either departing or on approach..

Is that coincidental? Or is it possible that the aircraft are doing something to negatively affect the signal?
