Insurance with Conviction

    Hello

I am 42 and was convicted of a non motoring offence for the first time recently.

    I have no motoring convictions.

I have been insured for 15 years with no claims intact.

Rather than been quoted EUR300/400 I am now being quoted EUR3,000/EUR4,000.

Is this it - do I have any other options - when if ever will insurance come back down?

    All answers appreciated!

As always shop around. Unfortunately insurers will generally take a dim view of people with criminal convictions.

With convictions it will be very hard to get a quote from any company on the phone or online.

Your best bet is to phone a broker like First Ireland who will be able to get a quote for a driver with convictions.

If you end up buying online make sure you read the terms properly. Every single one will have a clause that will say that you don't have any convictions in Ireland, ever, even though they may not ask it as a question.

How is a non motoring conviction affecting motor insurance?
