    Hi

I am sitting the entrance exams for Kings Inns this year and I am considering taking the prep classes between June and August. It costs €1800 and I wanted advice as to whether it's worth the money?

    Thanks

Can you study on your own to the same standard as you did in your college exams?

I'm not sure. I need to know what the standard of teaching is like before I can make that decision.

Do you have the ability to learn off the manuals? If so, then no.

You should really have that ability considering the profession you are following.

    Hi!

If you found yourself able to cope with the autonomous reading prescribed during your degree, you'll be fine without the prep course. I would however recommend sourcing the manuals from a friend or even through Adverts. Manuals from past years are still relevant, but be wary of some significant changes in Irish law, most notably how the decision in DPP v DC [2015] IESC 31 changed the exclusionary rule in criminal law (overruling the fundamental principles established in DPP v Kenny [1990] 2 IR 110.

Any changes will likely be reported on legal periodical sites such as staredecisishibernia.com, which you may be able to access freely if your college is a subscriber.

    Good luck!
