Hi all I'm in the process of finishing a house I recently bought and I'm wondering if any one has first hand experience with air to water heat source systems
The house is 230 sq,2 story.16 rads no under floor heating.will have a large stove with a back boiler and possible solar panels in the future
Want to make the right decision.even if it may cost abit extra
    Thanks in advance of

Heat pump produce water temperatures of 55c which is fine for underfloor or oversized radiators or borderline DHW. In your case I would probably not consider it. Ideally the heating system needs to be designed from the start not retro fitted afterwards. Do the calculations to find the heat load required and then go from there. A stonking great WBS in the wrong place is just not going to work and "solar panels" could be PV or thermal but neither will heat your house through the winter. Right now I would not make a decision on solar PV against Thermal as the market is in a state of flux waiting for a possible incentive being introduced.
If you need to decide now I would go for oil/gas high efficiency boiler supported by a SF stove with capacity to add solar later. So your design needs to incorporate the correct storage facility.

Thanks for your reply after doing a lot of research and reading up on things I've decided to go the oil boiler and solid fuel stove route. But if anyone has any more advice would love to hear

Hi, just wondering if you went with oil and solid fuel stove. Thinking of this myself. My only concern is will i get away with this with some solar panels..Dont want to spend a fortune on heat pump when i can burn turf for the year for heating and solar for water

Sorry for the late reply,I didn't go with it in the end as it didn't seem to suit my situation.i went for a grant vortex oil boiler and a Stanley Erin stove with back boiler.has only been put going this week so can't give proper feed back.with the few days it has been operating so far so good.i don't have soler panels how ever.but hopefully in the future
