    hi there,
    Any advice greatly appreciated.
I am not a big distance driver but need to replace my current car that I have 10 years now :(

I am looking at 07/08 petrol cars and ideally would love an A3 but thinking about a focus or golf or similar. And its a petrol engine I will be getting due to mileage.

Out of the 3 above, which would you go for. Anything to avoid on the 07 1.6 Petrol A3 ??

    Thx

If your stretching to a 08 A3 then aim for the 1.4 TSi. It's way superior to the 1.6 litre. the 1.4 is turbo charged, more powerful and better on fuel than the old 1.6 that it replaced.

Personally if I were spending that sort of money I'd look at the Honda Civic 1.8 hatchback, better equipped than most A3s and the 1.8 litre engine is very frugal for it's size. The 2008 onwards 5 door versions are only €390 to tax too.

Had a look into the civic aswell and have to take a test drive before hand but I don't know about the dash and interior as a whole. A bit quirkey?

Depends on your persona I guess. Lots of people like that model Civic's futuristic styled dashboard. The A3's dashboard would be at the other end of the spectrum and is a typical German play it safe, conservative design.

Hi Bass26, thanks for the replies.
They are definitely completely contrasting styles although the 390tax a year is a sweetener. Now to find a 1.8 civic in Dublin to take for a spin to see if I could get over the space age console :)
