NDLS - appointment vs walk-ins

    Hiya

Delighted to say I passed my test on Tuesday on my first go and I want to get my full licence application sorted asap.
I live near Waterford so I checked the NDLS centre in Waterford and they don't have any appointments available until 15th June. I know the centres take walk-in appointments but I'm just wondering would I be sitting there all day/not get seen at all if their appointment slots are already all booked up?

Does anyone have any experience with the Waterford centre?

    Thanks

Generally they allocate a certain amount of appointments for walk-ins every day. Your best bet is to arrive before 9am, they have iPads or screens where you enter your pps or driver number and it gives you a number and time. If there's no room left for walk-ins it'll tell you.

You are better off just walking in. I recently looked for an appointment but there was a 3 week backlog. Walked in the following morning and was dealt with within half an hour. As mentioned above, make sure you input you details on the iPad when you arrive, it wasn't very clear in my local centre

Sound, going to head in early tomorrow and hopefully get sorted.
    Thanks

Got there at 10am, place was empty, seen straight away, done in about 10 minutes.
The new system is very snazzy, electronic signatures and whatnot.

Good job. Doesn't make sense that there is a two week waiting list for an appointment then the place is empty when you walk in. Congrats on passing the test btw!

Yeah, it seems a bit strange. Maybe they're still ironing out stuff like that?
Thanks, thrilled to have it all done :D

I was told by the ndls centre in cork that 50% of their capacity is for online bookings and 50% for walk ins. He said the same applies throughout the country.
