Look Keo Blade 2 - bearing problems

I bought a pair of Look Keo Blade 2 pedals from a friend. They have only been used a handful of times but the right hand axle is rough - feels "notchy" when you turn it by hand.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of bearing / axle problems with these and whether there is much involved in replacing the bearings.

    Any advice appreciated.

Any way it could have been slightly bent? Had a Keo that went off in a similar way a while ago

Probably just needs a bit of grease.

Unscrew the axle from the pedal body and re-grease the bearings. They shouldn't be tight and should unscrew by hand. DO NOT use a spanner as the locking nut is only plastic.

note: left hand thread on the left pedal lock nut (or is it right hand? I can never remember :( )

    Thanks for the quick responses.

I actually can't see how to remove the axles from the pedal body. There doesn't appear to be anywhere to use a spanner or allen key.

I don't think the axle is bent because the roughness if consistent when you turn the axle. It may be just that it left the factory overtightened and / or needs grease. Just need to remove the axle!

I've had two pairs replaced under warranty. A friend has had a pair similarly replaced. His were the older model, they were replaced with the new model.
In all cases, there was a problem with the bearings.

Thanks Eamonnator - I might be better of just returning them so. If I open them up I'm sure I'll lose any return entitlement.

The three pairs, referred to by me, were all bought in C.R.C.
All three pairs were opened and regreased, in an attempt to solve the problem.
    C.R.C. replaced without a murmur.

One other thing, as far I remember, there is a two year warranty on Look pedals.

They say use a "Special" tool or 18mm ring spanner, but any I've ever removed I've done so by hand. If you need to apply more force, use a pliars, BUT do so GENTLY.

Thanks - these are Blade 2s - There is a plastic cover on the outer side of the pedal that needs to be removed with a knife and then you can remove the axle using two Allen keys (3mm & 6mm) - per YouTube video. Will give it a go when I get home.
