ISOFIX Audi A4 - Doesnt have it?

    Looking for some advise.
We are due our first baby, and have a 2007 Audi A4, 1.6 petrol car.
We have looked at the back seats and it appears it doesn't have the parts to accept an Isofix car seat.
From reading online it appears it should be able to take the parts to set it up for Isofix.
Just wondering where I would get this done?
As I think it would be allot safer than using a seatbelt over the isofix base?
Any advise would be great, thanks.

It would depend on the individual seat, but I believe that the advantages of ISOFIX are generally that there's less chance of fitting it incorrectly. Remember to get a rear facing seat for babies , they're much safer than front facing(which are actually banned for babies in Sweden and Finland where road death stats are among the lowest on the world)

There are threads around on how to retro fit Isofix into a car. Depends on how you feel about messing around with an important safety device.

Personally. I think you should simply buy a good seat with a detachable base. The seat belt type are still very safe for your baby.

Argos are doing a 1/2 sale on quality brands now.

Remember most isofix bases that come with car seats can still be fitted with the seatbelts. Ours did. Car seat still clicks in and out with ease, just the base is left there held by the belts. Once fitted correctly the first time you don't have to go near it again.

ISOFIX can be retro fit to your A4
ISoFix bars for left and right side
    – Parts # 8EO 813 545B and 8EO 813 546B [approx €55 each]
    Torx bolts [2 per bar]
    – Parts # WHT 001 230
2 sets of plastic guides. These are optional.
Labour – half an hour. They needed to remove the seat base to bolt in the bars.

Copy and paste off another website.

Thanks guys, See we already got the Maxi Cosy ISOFIX set, so the seat and the isofix base. (first time parents, should have checked first!!)
The base does connect up with a seatbelt and we could leave it plugged in all the time, I was just thinking it be more secure if we got the Isofix parts put in in order to connect that way.
Just not sure where to start with getting them fitted.
or if anyone has the isofix connected with the belt, does it feel secure enough?

Thanks pippip, I think we will set it up with the belt and see if we feel its secure enough. Might save us allot of hassle in the long run.

if it wasn't they wouldn't be allowed fit them this way. Its perfectly fine once done correctly.

They would be available from an Audi dealer. I find the guys in Audi Naas/Sheehy Motors excellent to deal with.

As above you'll get them from Audi and it's a 15 min job to fit them.

I got these from Audi North Dublin, but any main dealer should have them. You can just get fittings for one side of the car if you wish. I fitted them myself, very straightforward job.

The Maxi Cosi ISOFIX seat is a good solid piece of kit. The main advantage is the seat clicks and beeps when secured. The Maxi Cosi can also be secured just as good with a seat belt provided you are competent in strapping it in every time, not everyone is comfortable with this method.

My advice would be to have your A4 retro fitted with the ISOFIX anchor points as suggested for peace of mind and ease of use.

I fitted the isofix to my 2005 A4. Just got the part from the dealer as well as the two bolts. Any competent mechanic should have them in in about 20 minutes.

Yes the isofix is miles ahead in terms of easily securing the seat. I have them in my 08 Audi so assume they are standard in the next model A4 to the one you have.
Either way they are a simple retro fit as the car is made for them.
