Revenue - Can't get in touch...frustrated!

I moved to Ireland eight years ago and have not had to change my address or change jobs very much in that time. However, now i have don't both. I need to contact Revenue to change my mailing address with them. I also turned in my P45 to my new job about a month ago and yet have still not received my emergency tax back which I need to ask them about as well. I called my local Revenue office. The lady I spoke with was not very helpful and told me that I had to call a 1890 number. All I have is a mobile phone and the call which is a LoCall will not go though for me, it just beeps. I went to the online Revenue Contact Locator, typed in my PPS number and all it gives me is the same LoCall number that I have been trying to use. Needless to say I am getting frustrated. It should not be this hard to simply change your mailing address and ask a question about tax money you are owed. Anybody have any idea of any other number I can ring?

What part of the country are you living in? You could always go to the local office.

You can find some regular phone numbers linked to from here: http://www.revenue.ie/en/contact/border-midlands-west-region.html

Ring one of them, and if they can't help ask them to transfer you. If they try to fob you off to the 1890, explain the problem. If they're unsympathetic, try another number.

I live in Kerry. My local office is in Tralee, that was the office I rang initially and was told to call the LoCall number. I don't live in Tralee and don't have a car....I could always take the bus but I should just be able to call them...I shouldn't have to take a trip all the way to Tralee when I should just be able to ring them.

Thanks, I'll call the Tralee office back and tell them that I am having problems with the LoCall number. The funny thing is, the number I rang claims to be the local "customer service" number.

Note that some Revenue phone lines don't open in the afternoon while it wouldn't state this on their website.

I know my local office if you ring them looking for paye they just transfer you straight to the 1890 number. Handy to avoid the 1890 phone charges tho ;)

I finally managed to get through...called my local office back and when I was advised to call the LoCall number, I informed the lady that I was having trouble reaching that number an asked to be transferred...she didn't really want to but finally did...So thanks guys for the advice.

I know you're already sorted but on the Revenue website there is a number given for people to contact the PAYE locall number from outside Ireland.

Can't post links as I'm a new user, but it says:

'PAYE callers from outside Republic of Ireland should use +353 1 702 3011.'

You can use this to dial into the system from within Ireland also, like any normal landline number.
