Biggest change I can see this year is that a new Nexus tablet is not looking as likely as usual.

didnt the nexus 9 not do too well? i was put off by the massive price, although i heard they were reduced in currys, due to poor sales i assume. didnt bother with one took the hudl 2 instead, google broke my heart with their top dollar prices:(

Nexus 9 was nowhere near as successful as either N7 if you look at number sold.
Not sure how profitable it was with the higher price.

Nexus 9 is a good device but probably the one Nexus purchase that wowed me the least. Overall either N7 was a better buy at their respective launches. I'm still using my N7 more than my N9 or N10.

I reckon Google would shift a good tablet in the €200-300 price range but they seem happy to leave that market segment.

Wouldn't be surprised if focus on wearables and in-car.

I can see a lot of focus on new M release with focus on security and performance, plus new permissions infrastructure.
Android auto will be top billing
    beacon/nfc focus
    developer hero program

Maybe M will be more incremental an evolution than Lollipop, which made the final jump from Dalvik to ART.

Excluding large announcements like Android M one of the smaller announcements I'm looking forward to is the rumoured Chromecast 2. It's two years since the very successful original launched and they are rumoured to release a new version. If it keeps a similar price with new features and upgraded hardware you can't go wrong.

A chromecast 2 would be an easy sell to me anyway.
Have 2 of the original one's and think they're great!

They need a refresh to the hardware of it for sure as Amazon are flogging their Fire stick as being more powerful than the CC, so that probably upset google :pac:

M is basically just fixing Lollipop. Cannot complain I guess.

Did I see them omit the N4 and both N7 models from the list of devices getting developer M?

    What's M called?
Hopefully it will get back to basics and ensure its a lot better than L

N10 was not refreshed for 2 years until it was replaced by the N9, and it is still going strong. And incremental updates to tablets are marginal at this stage so it may not make sense to release a new model every year.

I was ready to buy the N9 to upgrade my N10 but I didn't feel it was worth it. I am now looking forward to the next Nexus tablet but if there isn't any this year I will see what I do. There is no alternative that really appeals to me.

Ya, they have a new support model now. OS releases for 2 years after initial release, security fixes for a further 12 months, so this will be the last release the N5 gets as well.

I saw an article on Android Police where they screenshotted a commit and version M was labelled as "MNC" which could potentially be Macademia Nut Cookie.

They will probably change it to something with more of a pop before release (as they did with Kitkat).

Was there anything mentioned about an updated chromecast? I am in two minds if I should buy one now or hold out if there is a new one coming out.
