While there is much talk of ageing priests and closing Covent. I was surprised to see a new monastery being founded in Stamullen Co. Meath.

    Silverstream Priory in Stamullen.

The young community celebrate their services in Latin.

If anyone know of any new communities in Ireland maybe they could post on this thread.

Welcome news, as it harkens back to an earlier tradition of a more focused nucleus of believers that lead by example.

Thanks for posting. This is a very encouraging sign to see a new monastery being founded in these times.

The Institute of Christ the King's acquisition of the former Jesuit church at the Crescent in Limerick city 3 years ago was also very encouraging.
(the former church was sold by the Jesuits to a property developer in the mid 2000's for a princes sum. And the Institute acquired it at a fraction of the price paid by the developer :))

Excellent news. This country will soon need a lot of exorcists and the Benedictines are really good at that.

Was very moved indeed by Silverstream. Dom Kirby has initiated something very important there - with very beautiful, prayerful liturgy. So close to the Dublin area where a third of the population live - so hopefully many will discover it.

I heard a Mass in St Kevin's said by one of their priests, newly ordained. The abbot gave the sermon. They now own their house, and instead of renovating the original chapel, they have made or are making a new one.

Dom Kirby is probably the best preacher in Ireland at the moment. He has indeed started something great in Ireland.

    MOD NOTE

Roger, please don't post links that are essentially blurbs about your book.

You have a link in your sig if people are interested in checking it out.

What you posted would fall under spamming and/or advertising your book.

Both of which aren't permitted. Please bear this in mind when posting in future.

    Thanks for your attention.

    MOD NOTE

    Post deleted.

Just because a blurb for a book is written by the monks doesn't mean that the rules regarding advertising no longer apply.

Please respect the charter/ site rules.

    Thanks for your attention.

So we can't even discuss a religious book in a non commercial way?

Also.. Why didn't Michael Nugent get an infraction when he commercially promoted his views on Boards.ie? Double standards here it seems.

    MOD NOTE

Spamming ads/blurbs for a book is against site wide rules.

If you feel the rules are unfair/ incorrectly applied take it to Help Desk

Michael has last posted 19 months ago in this forum, 8 months prior to my taking on modding of this forum so not such why you're suggesting double standards.

Anyways, that's the end of the arguging with mod instructions (which is against the charter btw).

    Back on topic everyone.

    Thanks for your attention.
