An eventual replacement for TNA I guess, seeing as how Sinclair produces the ROH shows that would make them cheaper to show for DA then TNA?

You'd think it would make more sense to put them on after TNA if that were the case but certainly may be the case.

Could there be a possibility that TNA end up not losing their deal if the ratings improve now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,943 ✭✭✭Machismo Fan

That possibility has always been the case. The move to Wednesday came after the word the show was cancelled. Either they were a lame duck or it was a last chance deal. ROH obviously changes the dynamic again. You can only speculate at this stage.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA................

Dixie Carter has to be the most incompetent Executive in the history of pro wrestling. Seriously how do you sign on a brand new network and not get an exclusivity clause to make sure your company is the only wrestling company they sign! TNA has been slowly dying for a while now and this just adds another nail to the coffin. The kicker is RoH are gonna push talent TNA has spent yrs squandering AJ, Joe, Daniels & Kaz, Jay Lethal etc. Personally I just hope Challenge or one of the discovery network channels over starts showing RoH

    Could ROH buy out TNA?

Why would they the TNA name is basically worthless. They could buy the library and put out a few best of DVD's that might make them some money

IIRC ratings weren't the reason they were being canceled. The ratings were always considered good but the cost of showing it wasn't worth it. Also the fact the TNA management seem to be unprofessional as **** doesn't help.

Tape library is one but not a huge one.

The big one would be for the International tv deals TNA in place already replacing TNA shows around the world with ROH shows.

Not like they had much leverage in fairness. Anyone except WWE is going to have a difficult time with tv for the foreseeable future due to the sheer lack of interest from advertisers and thus the tv networks.

I thought TNA were done with Destination America after Dixie sent another email in error?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 328 ✭✭Griever931

Yeah I think it's September when they finish with them assuming they don't change their minds in the mean time.

Do you think TNA could survive at this stage if someone gave them a drastic 180?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 328 ✭✭Griever931

I don't know I guess they could survive if they keep/get another tv deal. I heard somewhere that there was some tv network interested but were put off by the way they reacted to Dave Meltzer reporting that they were cancelled.

So, is ROH now pretty much the No.2 organisation in America?

So, is ROH now pretty much the No.2 organisation in America?

ROH run i/PPV shows and TNA don't and both now have the same national coverage so I guess so. ROH also get people to pay to go to their shows.

    So, Challenge? When you're ready.

Meltzer on the state of play with TNA on DA:
Two weeks ago, the Discovery Network sent out a memo stating:

"Destination America is not renewing TNA Wrestling next year. While the ratings were strong, the audience was not large enough to justify the program investment. We plan to honor the current contract and continue to air original episodes of TNA Wrestling on Friday nights through the end of the third quarter 2015. When the up-front rate card is released, the Friday night anthology title will now be called 'American Tales,' which will be a combination of Paranormal and Americana programming. I hope this is good news given all of the advertisers that included TNA on their DNA list."

The DNA list is for when advertisers buy time on the station as a whole instead of just a specific show, the DNA, or Do Not Advertise list, is something sponsors list for shows they specifically don't want their ads on.

    Scary:
At the last set of tapings, they were filming for a pilot episode of a Dixie Carter reality show, filming where she gave a speech to the talent and introduced Billy Corgan. During her speech to the talent, she talked about how you shouldn't believe the ratings you read because they don't include the DVR viewership numbers. There is a feeling that even if worst comes to worst as far as not getting a new U.S. TV deal goes, that there is incentive to keep TNA alive as long as the Carter reality show deal is still on the table, because the hook is a woman that runs a company in the male dominated pro wrestling industry. There are also a number of international television contracts in place for Impact so, and this is if they can't get U.S. television in the fall, do they keep producing new content to fulfill their worldwide deals? Nobody really has an answer, but if it is affirmative, that would also necessitate even more financial cutbacks

    And Meltzer slating Billy Corgan:
Corgan, a rock star as the key man in the "Smashing Pumpkins" band and a long time wrestling fan, wrote, "It wouldn't be so bad if the whole truth was being reported and the person reporting wasn't being worked himself by a sloppy angle."

In other words, he was claiming there was an angle going on, which can only be presumed that TNA creative is doing a storyline where they are about to lose television, and channel the spirit of Brian Pillman.

Not like they had much leverage in fairness. Anyone except WWE is going to have a difficult time with tv for the foreseeable future due to the sheer lack of interest from advertisers and thus the tv networks.

Even WWE couldn't get a bidding war going for their last tv deal renewal so that'll show you how little most stations want wrestling and WWE does draw in ratings.
The post above me worries me more than them losing Destination America tbh

TNA seemingly fake resigned the Wolves and Bram yesterday for PR purposes. The Wolves actually signed in January and they keep resigning Bram:

What day of the week and time will ROH & TNA be on at?

What day of the week and time will ROH & TNA be on at?

Wednesday in the US. ROH is at 1am and IMPACT is at 2am our time.

Neither move means nothing to us really. IMPACT will remain at the same time on Challenge TV in the UK. While ROH doesn't have a TV deal over here. You can watch it on their website a few days after.

This i did not know. Hopefully it stays that way, and D.A. don't request that they stop putting their shows there

They upload new episodes every Thursday or Monday I think if you're a ringside member. ROH is a syndicated show for them so I don't think DA will have any input in what they do.
