Rental Income - Social Welfare

I have been in receipt of Jobseekers' Allowance after losing my job over 1 year ago.

I am now thinking about renting rooms in my house to cover the mortgage.

I know this rent attracts no income tax below EUR12,000 in a year.

Does it impact on Jobseekers though of EUR188 per week?

    All answers appreciated! :)

Yes, It's means no dole if income from rent/profit is greater then the jobseekers rate.

I am in dispute with them at the moment for the same thing the following is their guidelines for this .

property partly occupied by the claimant :

any cash income from the portion of a house that is not personally used or enjoyed is assessable against the claimant as income .

If a portion of the house is being let or is being used for business purposes the following should apply. Deductions from profits should be allowed in respect of ground rent and mortgage interest (not the full amount of the loan repayment) in proportion to the area used for business purposes .

If rooms are let furnished , 5% of the gross amount received are allowed for wear and tear and 15%of the gross receipts maybe allowed for voids

    That is not the case
you get 5% if room is furnished
you get 15 % for voids ( if the room is left vacant you are supposed to save this in case the room is left vacant)
and you get a portion for the rental area ( but what this means and what portion I am not sure and i'm asking for advice for this on another thread.)

any portion for rental area is claimed against the mortgage interest minus the mortgage interest relief and what is left is your income and that is taken from the 188 of jobseekers allowance.
