Blue screen of death Windows 7

I have Windows 7 32bit and Windows update prompted me to install the regular updates, couple of minutes later the laptop crashed into a blue screen with dumping physical memory on it. I flicked through the new updates and one was something to do with wireless and a few letters/numbers, I didn't pay much attention to it but noticed it was a new update.

Cue a few attempted reboots while crashing on every one of them. I opened up Safe Mode and it worked with access to my files. Safe Mode with Networking crashes immediately.

I shut the laptop down, removed battery etc but crashed again.

Can you do a system restore in safe mode and pick a restore point before the last updates?
You may be able to remove the updates from add/remove programs.

Press F12 during startup and go for the last known working mode.
I suspect it was the Atheros WiFi upgrade

Yep that's the one. I done a system restore that the previous poster advised and I got it back up and running.

I installed the Windows updates but left the Atheros unchecked this time. Should I update this or ignore it?

I'd hide it, especially if it has crashed the system previously. I generally adopt the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mindset when it comes to drivers.
