im laying floor insulation two lots of 50mm, ie 100 mm in total,
After I lay the 1st 50mm the plumber is coming to lay his pipes,
My question is do I channel/chase out the top or bottom layer of insulation for the pipes to sit snug, or does it matter at all,

Generally the pipes go on top of the insulation

It's not underfloor heating, it's water, gas and radiator pipes,

I thought I lay 50mm then lay the pipes then chase out the insulation to sit the pipes flush, then put my 2nd lair of 50mm insulation down,
    Thanks

No, all pipes usually go over the insulation. If you go chasing insulation it'll wreck your head. It will be very time consuming and you'll still need to insulate the pipes

The pipes just go on top of insulation
Why chase in to top section
Common practice would be to fit one layer of 100mm insulation then fit all pipework on top of that insulating the pipework then pour finished floor screed on them

Plus, get yourself a box of plastic staples that are used for keeping underfloor heating pipes held down. They stop the pipes rising in the concrete and make for a lovely neat first fix. Use them over the pipe insulation.

Is there a subfloor going in under the insulation?

Usually it's hardcore, radon, insulation then 6-7 " of concrete. That's mostly the way I see it done
