I apologise if this is in the wrong forum area, but I'm wondering if anyone knows about, or has web links for the N.H.S. scheme where, if you're waiting over 6 months/a too long time with the H.S.E., that you can apply to have an operation/treatment in the U.K. under the N.H.S.? Also, can this scheme apply in terms of treatment, as opposed to just operations? And, is it still in place?

If anyone has any info. at all, I'd be really, really grateful. Thanks so much.

Its called the 'National Treatment Purchase Fund'
Essentially you apply for a procedure or a treatment publicly.
If the waiting list is such that there is an improbable waiting list to be seen- you are contacted by the 'National Treatment Purchase Fund Liaison Officer' who will advise you of other options available to you (which will vary depending on the procedure) and how they may be in a position to assist.

Travel costs etc- are covered under this (if there is treatment abroad that the NTPF are willing to cover).

First step- is to get on a HSE public waiting list- this is the only way to access to the National Treatment Purchase Fund.

A brief article explaining the NTPF is here
