You can buy directly from the PC Specialist website, which will work out cheaper. They're a good brand and very reputable. You can customize your laptop exactly as you'd like it, from CPU and Graphics card to Ram, hard drive, etc - you can even exclude Windows if you have your own copy, which saves over 100 euro. Have a look at their website. What will you be using it for? I assume a decent amount of gaming based on what you've chosen there. What's your budget?

    Yeah gaming mostly.

1000 was the original budget but don't mind going a little over if it means getting something great.

Yeah saw their website to but it actually appeared cheaper from laptopsdirect after I spec'd it out the same.

I'm also looking for a gaming laptop in a similar price range, PC specialist are the ones that I see mentioned here a lot and I've had a decent look through various sites over the last couple of days and they seem to come out on top.

As an example I specked out the "proteus ll" as follows
    15.6 full hd
    i7 4720
    8GB ram
    GTX 970m
    500gb + 120gb ssd
    Windows8.1
    Total 1350

A little over my budget which was around the same as yours but I believe it's a high spec laptop, just wondering if theres much hassle with installing windows myself and saving €113? Which would bring the total down too €1250?
    Sorry for hijacking your thread!

I've bought several laptops from PC Specialist and the only issue I have had was a battery failing after several years.

There is no problem at all installing any OS.

No matter what brand of Laptop I buy I always do a fresh install of the OS. That way you don't end up with all the bloat which comes with a manufacturer installed OS.

Yeah I was thinking of doing the same with the OS.

Gets rid of any bloat ware installed.

    Thanks for your opinions all!

They have the PC Specialist laptops on display in PC World in Blanchardstown (this is where the web shop is based and so has a bigger range then any other PC World)

I was looking for a laptop a few months ago and had a serious look at these, these are very well specced for the price

Most of the PC Specialist laptops are gaming laptops and are quite big, they also look a bit boring compared to an Ultrabook or Apple laptop
