FETAC / CAO confusion

    Hey lads,

I've posted here before and got great advice on further progression when it comes to FETAC, so I was wondering if you could help me with a problem I'm having with the CAO application form. I couldn't find a CAO forum, so I thought I'd post here first.

I filled the application out back in January and I thought I had everything filled out correctly (personal details, course choices, grants, education etc.) But a week ago I got a reminder letter from the CAO about making last minute changes to the application, and it made me double check my own application.

Everything was fine except for the qualifications and assessment section. It was only listing the year of my FETAC level 6 exams (Which I've yet to recieve the result of) It wasn't listing my 2014 FETAC level 5 stuff at all. This is how it is listed on the site.

    2002-2015 FETAC Level 5/6 Examinations:

    "Year Exam No.
    2015 111222333"

One part of the letter I got mentioned:

"You indicated on your application that you have completed a Fetac award in one of the years 2002-2014 and/or will complete FETAC award in summer 2015"

    but another part mentioned;

"If you completed FETAC in more than one year and you believe you have the requirements for a major award you will need to contact QQI by May 29th 2015'

So which is it? They acknowledge at the start of the letter than I have a FETAC level 5 award and was completing a level 6, but they don't list the lv5 on my application  Needless to say this alarmed me a bit.

From what my careers counselor told me I assumed I could apply for courses with level 5 and 6? is this not the case? do I need to specificy to the CAO what I want used? I also thought that as a FETAC student all my examination details and awards could be gotten from my PPSN number and I didn't need to send them any proof of award? I thought they would just pick the FETAC award which would qualify me for the course.

I emailed the CAO on Friday about this but I've yet to get a response, I also tried ringing them yesterday and today to no avail (the number is constantly engaged?) That May 29th date has gotten my very worried, if I do actually need to send them proof of my level 5 results.

I know this is a long post, but I only got the letter last week and now I'm wondering if I've drastically reduced my chances of getting a course place.

As I read it, they know you have your FETAC 5.
You indicated on your application that you have completed a Fetac award in one of the years 2002-2014

They are asking if you did one of those bits and pieces part module FETAC courses over a few years and you think you have enough to get the full award, in that case to contact QQI.
If you completed FETAC in more than one year and you believe you have the requirements for a major award you will need to contact QQI by May 29th 2015

That doesn't apply to you, in my opinion.

Can you contact your careers person?
