Mk4 GTI rough idle, misfires

This is my first post, so bear with me if I'm not spot on.
I've recently bought a mk4 gti with a 1.8t AUM engine and after a few days it stated idling rough (especially with the engine warmed up). First thing i did was replace the MAF sensor in hopes that would do it. It didn't. From what I read on the internet it might be either the coils or some vacuum pipes.

Did anyone have this problem with a similar engine? If so, how did you fix it?
Also, where can I get a VW error code reader in the Athlone area?

You def need a code read before you go replacing anything else. The Audi 1.8t's suffer with coil packs alright so I suspect the VW's do too

Try cleaning the throttle body also.

Thanks for the replies! So far I managed to get the error codes from the car and they are related to the oxygen sensor and the intake piping.
So tomorrow I'm taking it to a local garage to check the intake for leaks (I'm not sure if I can do that on my own) and hopefully that fixes it.
@Moanin, I'll try cleaning the throttle body too this week-end, but I think I need to recalibrate it if I disconnect it from the car.

Update: In the meantime I've checked for leaks and it didn't seem to have any. I also replaced the lambda sensor in front of the catalytic converter and that seemed to do the trick. The car runs fine now, and fuel consumption went down a lot.
