Advice for looking after land

Looking for a bit of advice folks...i'm not a farmer, and have 5 acres of land "let" to local farmer for last 2 years.
Last year he let sit until june/july and took silage off it and then grazed it for the remainder of year. this year he started grazing on it a few weeks ago (5/6 cattle).
my question is do i need to carry out any maintenence on it? Spray, fertilise etc...or when should this be carried out - is it required, is it annually, every 5 years etc?
    thanks

In fairness the person renting should be looking after the land.
If you think it's getting weedy then make it a stipulation at next renewal that it's sprayed.

Fertiliser etc should also be by the tenant. However, tenants on short term lets often horse out loads of N on ground and in a few years it ends up spun out needing serious work o balance again.

Maybe opting for a 5 year let and stipulating spraying, lime etc would be a good option and in return the tenant gets security of acreage.
