Conjoined Ash Twins

    Hi

    I have a couple of Ash trees in my garden (technically may be the same tree - two trunks off one root system, I think). Anyway, they were covered in ivy, that I recently cut out. When clearing off the debris I noticed this strange occurrence - a branch from one of the trees joined the other one (pictures below)
    I have never seen this before - is it common?

    (The angle of the first photo doesn't do this justice as the large branch in the foreground blocks out the end; the "offending" branch does join the larger branch from the second trunk, which should be clear in the second photo)
